✴ Onigiri Recipe
Onigiri is usually for lunch or when you eat when you are outside like for picnic. It’s like a
sandwiches in Japan. it was born about 2000 years ago when rice faming was introduced in
Japan. Samurai brought onigiri when they go battle. About 400 years ago when people
started travelling onigiri often used as a ‘travel food’.

What you need:
* Cooked Japanese rice (sticky one), about 150g for one onigiri
* One sheet of Nori (dried seaweed)
* Salt
For one Tuna-mayo onigiri:
* 1 tuna can
*Soy source
*Mayo
1. Put 150g of cooked sticky rice in the bowl.
2. Add one tbsp of tuna (drained) to the bowl.
2. Add 1⁄2 tbsp of soy sauce.
3. Add 1⁄2 tbsp of mayo (recommend to use Japanese one. It has a rich taste).
4. Mix well to make filling easy!
5. Place plastic wrap to shape onigiri on table (to protect from bacteria).
6. Sprinkle salt on the wrap first.
7. Place 150g of cooked rice on the wrap.
8. Dig a little hole (put your pointer finger in the middle of the lump of cooked rice and
push down a little to make a hole).
9. Fill the hole with tuna-mayo.
10. Hold up the wrap to put the filling inside of the rice ball.
11. Form the rice into a triangle
12. Wrap with Nori or place nori piece to decorate the onigiri.
For one Sesami oil onigiri
1. Put 150g of cooked sticky rice in the bowl.
2. Add 1 tbsp of white sesame seed
3. Add some salt.
4. Add 1 tbsp of sesame oil (Taiwanese one is recommended)
5. Add 1 tbsp of soy sauce.
6. Mix well
7. Place plastic wrap and put the rice, shape in triangle.
8. Wrap with Nori or place nori piece to decorate the onigiri.
*Filling example:
shredded cheese and corn, umeboshi (Japanese picked plum), chicken nugget
mayo-boiled egg, rice mixed with edamame, salmon freak and more!
